Food Bank

The children dressed up as characters from familiar stories. We decided it would be a nice idea if all the children brought an item of food in to donate to the local food bank. We had a great response from this and the children enjoyed delivering the bags of food and exploring the food bank along with meeting the staff that run it. Due to the great response we have decided to set up a permanent drop off area, where parents can add items of food and toiletries when they like, and these will be donated to the food bank on a regular basis.

Visit from the Postman

As part of our ‘people who help us’ topic during January we had a visit from a postman. The postman spoke to the children about what he does on a daily basis, brought lots of different equipment for the children to see and use and brought a variety of uniforms with him. The children had great fun trying on the uniforms, writing their own “missed parcel” notices and using the various equipment.

Visit from the Dentist

This month the nursery topic is “People who help us” We were lucky enough to have a visit from our local Dentist Mrs Robison from Thornhill Dental Surgery. She talked to the children about brushing thier teeth and things that are good for our teeth and things that are not good for our teeth. Is your child registered with a dentist?
