As many of you follow social media you might have seen that Veteran Mr Joe Weaver is going to be 100 years old on Sunday.
Joe went to war at the age of 18 and served for the king and his country. We have been asked a long with people from far and wide to make his day by sending him birthday cards to show our appreciation and thanks for his service. The children in our pre school room have made individual pieces of artwork to send to Joe and they have been made into a book which will be posted onto him for Sunday.
We talked about Joe and looked at a picture of him which then led to us talking about medals and poppies.
Our children were also inquisitive and interested in what a world war is and they asked questions and offered suggestions before we then researched this together.
