Child's Play was established in September 2001 and was formally St. Matthew's Church Hall, which underwent a major refurbishment to meet recommendations by both social services and Ofsted.
Child's Play is a member of the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA). We liaise with Sure Start and we have an advisory teacher from Kirklees Early Years who regularly visits us to keep us up to date with the latest training opportunities.
Child's Play is affiliated with the local Sure Start centres to offer our services to disadvantaged children.
The nursery is a registered day-care provider by Ofsted and offers first class day-care for 47 children aged between 0 - 8 years. The nursery is divided into 3 units. The Snowdrop unit for children aged 6 weeks to 18 months, the Buttercup unit for children aged 18 months to 2 years 6 months, and the Sunflower unit for children aged 2 years 6 months to 5 years. The Sunflower unit is divided into 3 rooms:- Creative development, Imagination play, and Activity room. The nursery also has facilities for an out of school club and holiday club for children aged 3 years to 7 years 11 months.
The nursery is bright and cheerful, well lit and heated. It has been decorated and furnished to a high standard throughout. All the equipment used in the nursery is new and complies with British Standards for Safety, the majority of the equipment being supplied by GALT toys.
Our nursery offers a warm, caring environment in which children are encouraged to explore their world through a variety of fun learning experiences.

We aim to provide a safe, secure, caring and stimulating environment where children's self confidence and esteem can grow. To provide enjoyable activities where they can gain knowledge, life experience and be able to integrate with children of similar ages. To provide a background which reflects and respects the various cultures and backgrounds in which people live. To encourage self-respect, courtesy politeness and to provide a natural transition from nursery life to school life; so that each child is well prepared for the national curriculum. |
